Where did we go in Bangkok in 2024 with our kid:

We chose 4 activities, so one activity per day and the rest we took as it came.

- Lumpini Park

- Rot Fai Park

- Children's Discovery Museum

- Beat Active

Lumpini Park: A Green Oasis in the Urban Jungle of Bangkok

Escape the city's hustle and bustle at Lumpini Park, a sprawling green haven perfect for families in Bangkok, Thailand in 2024. This urban oasis boasts serene lakes, meticulously landscaped gardens, and plenty of space for little ones to run wild. We often stay close to Lumpini Park so we can walk there from the hotel. Most days we wake up early, and grab breakfast at the little stalls on the way to the park. We can then enjoy breakfast in the early hours of the morning while L plays on the playground before it gets too hot. While you enjoy your breakfast then you can watch the locals practice Tai Chi. If you need a break from the playground, you can rent a swan paddleboat, free of charge, for a leisurely cruise on the lake to see turtles and water monitors while enjoying views of the skyscraper.

Cost: Free entry

Target Audience: Perfect for all ages, especially families with young children.

Activities:

  • Rent a swan paddle boat (free of charge)

  • See fish, water monitors, and turtles in the lakes.

  • Explore the playgrounds scattered around the park

  • Watch locals practicing Tai Chi in the early mornings

  • Take a stroll or jog on the designated paths

  • Relax on the grassy lawns and enjoy a picnic lunch

Insider Tip:  Lumpini Park is especially vibrant on weekends. Expect to see families flying kites, street vendors selling delicious snacks, and locals participating in aerobics classes. Embrace the lively atmosphere and soak in the authentic Thai culture.

Rot Fai Park: A Green Oasis with Family Fun in Bangkok, Thailand in 2024

Rot Fai Park isn't just any park – it's a playground paradise nestled within the sprawling green spaces of Chatuchak Park and Queen Sirikit Park in Bangkok. While vast, we focused on the wonders within Rot Fai Park itself. Imagine your little one's delight as they discover three distinct playgrounds, each offering exciting climbing structures, swings, slides, and more!

But the fun doesn't stop there. Rot Fai Park caters to all ages with dedicated basketball courts, specially designed balance bike areas featuring small hills, and a miniature traffic city complete with roads, houses, and traffic lights! We could have easily spent a whole day exploring, and with good reason – the park is not only incredibly fun but also beautifully landscaped.

Feeling adventurous? Rent a bike with a child seat and explore the park on wheels. And don't worry about packing snacks – several vendors within the park offer refreshments and treats to keep everyone fueled for more play.

Cost: Free entry, but expect to spend on food, drinks, and souvenirs.

Target Audience: Families with toddler, preschoolers and older kids.

Activities:

  • Let your little ones loose on the age-appropriate playgrounds.

  • Rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike path (costs may vary depending on rental type and duration).

  • Play a game of frisbee or catch with your little one in the open space.

  • Take a leisurely stroll and soak in the park's refreshing atmosphere.

Insider Tip: Rot Fai Park transforms into a bustling night market when the sun sets. While the market caters more to older children and adults, you can still enjoy the lively atmosphere and grab some delicious Thai street food for dinner.

The museum is divided into different sections with age guidance from toddlers to school children.

There's a play area for toddlers, a library, a 4D movie section, a science area, an environmental area and an area with different job positions. L's favorite was the job position area where you could dress up as a firefighter and drive a fire truck, or dress up as a doctor and help all the animals, etc. Outdoors there is a "Water World", so remember swimwear and different playgrounds.
